Progress In Pomona?

So on Friday on my way to school again, I saw this on Valley near where it becomes Holt (that bridge is the 57 fwy). They're clearing the brush!

Before this I had to ride my bike on the road and others even had to walk on the road. BUT, since there is no bike lane I like to ride on the sidewalk when there aren't many people on it. NOW I can actually ride here. So, today, this morning I rode my bike to school and tried out the cleared sidewalk. It was better than I had ever imagined.

PLUS on the other side of the street they were fixing the sidewalk! Awesome! If only Pomona would do that on my street.

that's good news...

you wanna hear a funny story?

year and years ago we put in our own sidewalk and driveway opening.

it was pretty easy. then, all of a sudden, code enforecement said the angles of our opening to our driveway was too steep.

we had to tear it out and re-do-

years later, when the city decided to put in sidewalks and driveway openings for everyone else, they did it at a steeper angle than we had preciously done-

just goes to show you- with public works, you never can tell what you're gonna get...

dude,
you have a legal right to occupy a single lane as a bicyclist. we should leave the sidewalks for pedestrians...
i ride that road a lot, and there is quite a lot of room in the lane. all they have to do is paint a bicycle lane and give the appearance that there are actually bicycle commuters in Pomona...jk...but no, really, it would give that awareness to drivers that there are legal rights for bicyclists to be on the road and to watch out for them...
